LeFleur Institute
By developing documentary film, photography, oral histories and field research we preserve knowledge carried by people, communities and places. We create films that invite the public into these stories, and behind each production, we build and share a complete record necessary for future generations to understand cultures from around the world.
We are building a permanent documentary institution devoted to exploration, preservation and responsible access.
The Institute’s established positioning treats films as the public expression of a deeper archival mission rather than the totality of the work.

The Korean is widely known as the forgotten war. We hope to change that through an archival project capturing interviews from United States Korean War Veterans.

LeFleur Institute works with universities, museums, archives, cultural institutions, conservation organizations and community partners to document important stories, preserve primary-source materials and expand public access to knowledge.

LeFleur Institute offers fellowship opportunities for filmmakers, historians, researchers, photographers, writers and field practitioners to further the Institute’s mission.
Fellows contribute to active projects, original research, archival development and public scholarship while gaining meaningful experience within a working documentary institution.
